Summary of the project

The RESCUE project is a 24-month Erasmus+ project. The project is designed in such a way as to raise environmental awareness among young people on the long-term impact that the use of plastic has on the environment and human health, promoting more sustainable consumption patterns and fostering green initiatives.

The RESCUE project aims to develop a comprehensive and collaborative approach to learning for environmental sustainability involving different bodies, organizations and participants in the education, youth work and training system. By raising awareness through theoretical knowledge and participatory activities, the project intends to build attitudes and behaviours in young people regarding climate change and sustainable consumption patterns of plastic, providing also stimuli to young people for creating green initiatives (campaign) with an impact on the environment and society.

PROJECT’S OBJECTIVES:

  • To raise awareness among young people on the long-term impact of plastic on the environment and human health
  • To promote more sustainable consumption patterns of plastics for young people, to stimulate change
  • To build environmentally friendly behaviours and attitudes among young people
  • To provide youth workers with tools and methodologies to transfer knowledge to young people regarding the use of plastic and motivate them to run initiatives
  • To connect young people through green campaigns and give them the opportunity to learn, cooperate, volunteer and
    disseminate their experiences to peers and the society
  • To equip the partners’ staff with the know-how to apply green,plastic-free practices inside their organizations

Project Results

An e-learning platform aiming to raise awareness through theory and practice regarding
plastic usage and provide young people and youth workers with the theoretical background that will inspire them and give
them the know-how to build a more sustainable and responsible plastic consumption behaviour.

The “How to run a green campaign” Guide addresses youth workers on how they can educate young people to organize, run and disseminate an environmental campaign against plastic usage with social and environmental impact. The guide will be a 40-page interactive pdf file, which will include theory, methodologies, tools and best practices for implementing a successful campaign.

the “Become a Green Ambassador” campaign addressed young people and youth workers consisting of both online and offline activities, in order to increase participants’ engagement. This campaign will make use of 5 different social media platforms to reach different target groups, especially youth: Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. For the campaign there will be created videos, vidcasts, posts and stories on social media, factsheets and national green initiatives.

“KAINOTOMIA” is a level two Lifelong Learning Centre (K.DI.VI.M2) in Greece, which is active in the field of Vocational Education and Training. KAINOTOMIA has implemented more than 60 continuing vocational training programmes for unemployed people, teachers of all levels of education, higher education students, employees/self-employed and vulnerable social groups, for the development of professional opportunities and their promotion and integration into the labour market and society in general, through innovative programmes. “KAINOTOMIA” provides consultancy services to enterprises and support and advisory services to trainees to facilitate their (re)entry into the labour market. “KAINOTOMIA” has participated in several national projects, offering a high degree of expertise in training in modern fields, combining them with those that are in high demand in the labour market in order to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of trainees for their integration into the labour market. Furthermore, “KAINOTOMIA” participates in co-funded national programmes called “local development and entrepreneurship projects for unemployed people based on specific local needs and development potential”.
