Summary of the project

The EDU4Food – Educating youth towards sustainable, healthy and equitable food systems, is a 24 month Erasmus plus project that enhances competencies in sustainable food sectors through educational modules, activities, and methodologies aligned with the Farm to Fork Strategy. It promotes resource-saving, waste reduction, carbon footprint offsetting, and sustainable food choices. The initiative supports young learners and youth workers, focusing on behavioral changes for sustainability and improving employability. By offering knowledge, success stories, and career opportunities in the sustainable food system, EDU4Food empowers young people, including those facing social and economic challenges, to actively participate in creating a sustainable and equitable food future.

 

TARGET GROUPS

EDU4Food project mainly has two direct and one indirect target groups (TGs).

Direct TGs:

  • Young people aged from 18-30, especially disadvantaged youth(NEETs, long-term unemployed youth, migrants, people
    with disabilities)
  • Youth workers, youth mentors and educational providers

Indirect TG:

  • Staff of the partners

 

PROJECT’S OBJECTIVES

The EDU4Food project aims to:

  • To educate young people about the various aspects of the Farm-to-Fork strategy, including sustainable farming
    practices, food production, distribution, and consumption.
  • To develop interactive tools and activities for youth workers to inspire consumption change and to promote sustainable,
    healthy and affordable food.
  • To encourage healthy eating by highlighting the linkage of nutrition to health and by promoting the nutritional benefits of
    locally sourced, fresh, and seasonal produce.
  • To foster youth employment and entrepreneurship by inspiring youth to explore opportunities in the agriculture and food
    industry by showcasing innovative and sustainable business models.
  • To connect young people with local farmers, food producers, and community organizations through non-formal activities
    aiming to support sustainable food systems in their region.
  • To disseminate the results and lessons learnt from the project.

Project Results

The EDU4Food training Kit, aims to educate youth on sustainable food practices through comprehensive modules on the Farm to Fork Strategy, interactive quizzes, and games. It promotes healthy nutrition with sustainable recipes and demos, highlights career opportunities in the food industry, and provides an activity guide for youth workers to deliver non-formal food-based education. This initiative fosters engagement, knowledge, and employment opportunities, contributing to the overall project goals of sustainability and food system education.

The EDU4Food interactive space, will be an interactive platform serving as a central hub for sustainable food system resources. The platform will be user-friendly and accessible to diverse audiences, including youth and youth workers. It will feature tailored content, e-learning modules, quizzes, games, and multimedia to enhance engagement and self-paced learning. This platform supports the project’s general objectives by facilitating resource dissemination, fostering targeted education, and enhancing the quality and usability of the results.

EDU4Food project will implement local activities using non-formal educational methods and produce the EDU4Food Magazine. Activities include interactive workshops, sustainable food expos, farm visits, skill-building sessions, expert webinars, and cooking workshops. Each partner will organize at least four activities tailored to their target groups, lasting 4-6 hours with 8-10 participants each. Outcomes, including photos and testimonials, will be compiled into the EDU4Food Magazine for dissemination.

 

The Partnership

CROSSING BORDERS –  coordinator, Denmark

Crossing Borders (CB) is a non-profit civil society organisation. The vision of CB is a world in peace with itself in which diversity is celebrated. The mission is to create a dialogue space toward such a world and to build the capacity of youth, media workers and educators to realise the above vision. Crossing Borders started as a project in 1999 in Denmark in support of meaningful dialogue between the conflict parties in the Middle East. In response to increased activities and demands for the CB concept and services, it was transformed, in 2004, into a dynamic organisation with activities in Denmark and abroad. CB’s themes focus on current global issues including climate change, migration, youth participation, and the SDGs as a contribution toward green innovation and eco-entrepreneurship for sustainable development. We educate and empower young people to become active global citizens. Across cultures and professions, we provide platforms for young people to cross-fertilise ideas and form global associations, networks, and communities worldwide. Together, we grow, and promote best practices for positive change.

KAINOTOMIA & SIA EE – partner, Greece

“KAINOTOMIA” is a Lifelong Learning Centre (K.DI.VI.M) in Greece, which is active in the field of Vocational Education and Training. KAINOTOMIA has implemented more than 60 continuing vocational training programmes for unemployed people, teachers of all levels of education, higher education students, employees/self-employed and vulnerable social groups, for the development of professional opportunities and their promotion and integration into the labour market and society in general, through innovative programmes. “KAINOTOMIA” provides consultancy services to enterprises and support and advisory services to trainees to facilitate their (re)entry into the labour market. “KAINOTOMIA” has participated in several national projects, offering a high degree of expertise in training in modern fields, combining them with those that are in high demand in the labour market to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of trainees for their integration into the labour market. Furthermore, “KAINOTOMIA” participates in co-funded national programmes called “local development and entrepreneurship projects for unemployed people based on specific local needs and development potential”.

E-JUNIORS – partner, France

E-Juniors – Non-govermental organisation/association in France. The objective of E-Juniors is to offer younger citizens – particularly those who are e-excluded – opportunities to improve their digital skills, by proposing activities in addition to formal academic studies. E-Juniors proposes activities aiming to encourage younger people to: Spend free time in a productive and useful way, explore new applicable areas of interest, inspire creativity and enhance vocational skills, acquire hard and soft skills facilitating the inclusion in the labour world.
E-Juniors is involved in several European actions proposing new training curriculum for the youth based on the use of innovative ICT tools. In particular, the association organized training for younger people to become youth educators by proposing digital tools and innovative methods, such as online learning and blended learning.
Moreover, E-Juniors has been involved in Erasmus+ and Europe for citizens projects, promoting the active citizenships in Europe and raising awareness about democratic processes among younger people to avoid radicalization and to boost active participation in the European civic life. The association works in tandem and in a complementary manner with E-Seniors, whose objectives are to initiate seniors and people with disabilities into the world of new communication technologies. Together, the two associations use digital technologies to foster intergenerational communication and to bridge the digital gap. The association regularly undertake actions to fight prejudices, to promote intergenerational dynamics and boost social cohesion.

CWEP – partner, Poland

Centre For Education And Entrepreneurship Support (CWEP) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2004 by a group of entrepreneurs, teachers and social activists from Rzeszów, Poland. CWEP cooperates with businesses and educational institutions. The mission of CWEP is to increase the quality of education training at all levels and in all its forms, as well as to promote entrepreneurship in order to foster integration of any social group, regardless of their gender, age or ethnic origin. Particularly, the aims are to improve accessibility, quality and efficiency of education of all people, to promote and contribute to adult education, life-long learning, e-learning and the usage of new technologies in education and entrepreneurship. The Association works with many partners from Europe in order to strengthen the economic position of enterprises and provides on-line platforms for companies.
