Housekeeping Program

Cleanliness and the general image of the public areas and rooms contribute greatly to the smooth operation of a hotel unit. Modern customers have high expectations, as competition is fierce. This is why there is a housekeeping department that maintains and enhances the good image of the hotel premises. For the efficient operation of the department, certain tactics and rules are followed.

Who it is addressed to
  1. Floor managers and assistants, hotel maids and cleaners
  2. Future professionals who wish to obtain the knowledge they need to work in the flooring department
  3. Younger professionals wishing to move up in the sector of housekeeping
  4. Students of Tourism Schools who wish to receive specialised knowledge in the field of housekeeping

The thematic modules of the programme are

Hotel Management and Hotel Product – Hotel Departments and Staffing

  1. Main and Secondary Activities of Floor Departments, Organizational Chart and Departmental Hierarchy – Position Responsibilities
  2. Room Security and Specifications – Services, Types, Room Equipment, Electronic Room Access System
  3. Activities and Specifications of the Linen Store and Pillar Room – Responsibilities of Employees – Staff Uniforms
  4. Preparation of Trolley Equipment, Maid’s Trolley, Floor Office
  5. Cleaning of Public Areas and Rooms
  6. Room services
  7. Complaints Management

  1. By attending the programme, the trainees will be introduced to both tourism concepts and practical issues of the hotel industry. Furthermore, they will be able to cope with the demands of the floor department by operating efficiently and professionally. Finally, they will be able to provide cleaning services on a professional level.

The programme is implemented through distance learning, lasts 120 hours and costs 110€. At the end of the training, a Certificate of Attendance of the programme is issued by the KDBM KAINOTOMIA and there is the possibility of obtaining a Certification. Successful completion of the examination process leads to the acquisition of the certification with the title: Certified Professional Housekeeper.

The speciality Catering Clerk is accredited according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17024:2012 by the ESYD and the legally competent organization, which means that the certification process is done with impartiality and documented competence, while at the same time, it makes the certificate recognized and accepted as equivalent by the National Accreditation Bodies of the EA (European cooperation for Accreditation) member countries. It is an Accredited Training Program ACTA Technovlastos of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
